It’s into the woods and happy ever after–or not, as Theatre Bristol presents Into the Woods, the Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine award-winning Broadway musical at the Paramount Center for the Arts, weekends November 15 – 24. Tickets are on sale now at www.ParamountBristol.org.
Directing Into the Woods will be highly respected and talented actor/director, Theatre Bristol veteran Glenn Patterson (Fiddler on the Roof, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Music Man, Les Misérables, Scrooge! The Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Miracle on 34th Street).
Into the Woods features enchanting and brilliant “Children Will Listen,” “The Last Midnight, and “No One is Alone,” to the humor-filled “Agony” and many more. Into the Wood’s dramatizes the Brother’s Grimm stories full of musical wishes and choices to their less-than storybook endings. “The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey tobreak the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. One of Sondheim’s most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show of dark comedy.” (MTIshows).
The fairy tale cast of Into the Woods includes Terry Marek as the Narrator, Lorrie Anderson as Cinderella, Will Oliver as Jack, Laura O’Bryan as Jack’s Mother, Nick Dennis as the Baker, Colleen Semones as the Baker’s Wife, Mary Ellis Rice as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Anna Kimerer as Florinda, Parker Dugger as Lucinda, Randy Callahan as Cinderella’s Father, Ava White as Little Red Riding Hood, Leslie Lockhart as the Witch, Martha Hawk as Cinderella’s Mother, Steve Baskett as the Mysterious Man, Laura Watson as Rapunzel, Ronnie Jenkins as Rapunzel’s Prince and the Wolf, James Francis as Cinderella’s Prince, Joey Collard as the Steward, Nicole Intagliata as the Giant, Faith Vance as Snow White, and Enelisa Sutton as Sleeping Beauty.

Into the Woods opens November 15, and runs for two weekends at the Paramount Center for the Arts, Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm, closing on November 24. Tickets are $16 for adults plus fees ($20 total) and $12 for seniors and students plus fees ($15.75 total), and are on sale at www.ParamountBristol.org.

Winner of multiple Tony Awards when debuted and revived, and adapted for film by Walt Disney Pictures, Into the Woods features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book and original Broadway direction by James Lapine, and with orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. Into the Woods is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI (www.MTIShows.com). Founded in 1965, Theatre Bristol is the oldest continually running children’s theatre in northeast Tennessee. Its Main Stage season consists of up to six productions. Some of its performances take place in the ARTspace, a multi-purpose, black box theatre which seats up to 120, and other performances are on stage at the Paramount Center for the Arts.
