Theatre Bristol 2022 summer camp returns July 11-15
Theatre Bristol proudly announces its 2022 children’s summer camp The StART of Adventure, running July 11-15 at 512 State Street, Bristol, Tennessee. After two years, Theatre Bristol is pleased to bring back camp for rising second graders through eighth graders, and one half-day camp for rising kindergartners and first graders. Registration is now open online at http://www.TheatreBristol.org.
In order to attend camp, campers will need to present a negative COVID-19 test taken each day. Alternatively, you may voluntarily provide proof of vaccination or proof of a current positive antibody test. Teachers and counselors have been vaccinated.
Campers will explore theatre and acting skills from talented and highly respected teachers and theatre veterans in the area. “We’re really excited to be able to continue our camp program,” said Seth Gilstrap, camp coordinator. Co-coordinator Zaiah Gray adds, “We’re also very thankful to the professionals who will be teaching the campers valuable theatrical skills and knowledge.” Guided by the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board (YSB), campers will spend the week learning acting skills, creative movement, music, costuming, makeup design, set design, props, and more. At the end of the week, campers will perform a demonstration of what they have learned for family and friends.
The StART of Adventure is organized by the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board, with guidance and counsel from the Theatre Bristol Board of Directors. “I see camp as a great way for the YSB to learn leadership, organization, planning, and responsibility,” said Enelisa Sutton, the Youth Service Board president, “We have all had wonderful opportunities on and off stage, and now we get a chance to offer our experience and knowledge to the next generation of young actors. I know our founder, Cathy DeCaterina, would be proud.”
Camp will run Monday to Friday July 11-15 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a half-day on Thursday for K-1st graders. Theatre Bristol will provide a healthy snack in the afternoon, however campers will need to pack a lunch each day. Registration is available online. The cost per camper for 2-8 graders is $150, with a family discount of each additional child reduced to $75. The cost per camper for K-1st graders is $25. Financial assistance applications are also available. Space is limited so register soon!
