Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board follows “Tartuffe” success with a collection of classic Arthur Conan Doyle mysteries
Theatre Bristol is proud to present a collection of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle classics, “Sherlock Holmes,” produced by the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board, with direction by Camille Gray, July 26, 27, and 28 at the Theatre Bristol ARTspace (506 State Street). Tickets are $8 each for the evening and matinee performances and available at the door one hour before show times.
Sherlock Holmes is on the case again! Sherlock solves a fifteen-year-old mystery, diffuses a bomb, evades a near-death poisoning, and finishes by arresting an escapee from the local asylum. With help from Dr. Watson, Mrs. Hudson, and Inspector Lestrade, Sherlock Holmes solves four puzzling mysteries in the course of one evening. It’s elementary, my dear, to observe these gripping adventures!
The cast and crew are comprised of the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board members, all veterans. Seth Gilstrap leads the cast in the role of Sherlock Holmes, supported by his trusty friend and biographer, Dr. John Watson, played by Devon White. Faith Vance, as landlady Mrs. Hudson, keeps a watchful eye on Sherlock and Watson, and Luke Gray portrays the respected Inspector Lestrade, chief of Scotland Yard. Bailey Lowe portrays distressed widow Sarah Walker and family helper Miss Westfield, Carly Street plays the conniving Elizabeth Crawford and dependable Sergeant Collins, Mason White performs the roles of forlorn Thomas Turner and twisted Amos Bundy, and Enelisa Sutton plays the murderous Mrs. Nicole Reid.
Director Camille Gray, a Youth Service Board veteran of six years and Theatre Bristol veteran of sixteen years, and most recently choreographer for Theatre Bristol’s production of The Wizard of Oz, has directed Pinocchio, and Godspell, as well as choreographed, stage managed, costumed, and performed in many shows. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Directing at Emory & Henry College. Whitney Brooks is stepping up to the new challenge of stage managing, and Albert Tester and Jim Altman are working in the tech deck, operating lights and sound. With the help of their mentors, Samantha Gray and Steve Baskett, the Youth Service Board has put together a truly entertaining evening of mystery.
“Sherlock Holmes” is managed by Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board members ages 13 to 20. After the successes of their previous productions, “Pygmalion,” “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and “Tartuffe,” the YSB is excited to have the opportunity to present this collection of classic stories.
“Sherlock Holmes” runs July 26-28, 2019, with evening performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:30. Tickets are $8 each and available at the door one hour before showtimes.

Founded in 1965, Theatre Bristol is the oldest continuously running children’s theatre in Northeast Tennessee and is now celebrating its 54th season. Its performances take place in the ARTspace, a multi-purpose, black box theatre as well as the Paramount Center for the Arts.
