Local talent brings Dickens’ classic to the airways for a heartwarming holiday season
Theatre Bristol is “Keeping Drama On –and Off– Stage,” with the first Theatre Bristol On Air production of the holiday season, “A Christmas Carol,” featuring a talented cast under the direction of Glenn Patterson–and your imagination.
Theatre Bristol On Air, a radio drama throw-back to Theatre Bristol’s days of “Don’t Touch That Dial,” will air “A Christmas Carol” on radio 89.5 WETS, Wednesday, December 23 at 8:00 PM.
In addition, throughout the months of November and December, the program will also be available on various podcast services and the Theatre Bristol website, www.TheatreBristol.org, at no charge. You’ll find there too, the souvenir program and links to make a contribution. Of course, donations of any amount, such as the value of a ticket or two, are very appreciated and needed at this time.
“A Christmas Carol” features Dickens’ well-known mean-spirited and selfish old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas. Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner Jacob Marley – and then by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. With a cast of Dickens’ characters portrayed by Theatre Bristol actors, the ghosts’ journey through time teaches Scrooge, and us, the joys of Christmas.
Leading the classic Christmas story is Director Patterson, serving as the program announcer. The cast comprises both long-time veterans, as well as some new-to-Theatre Bristol performers, with Fred Dunagan as Ebenezer Scrooge, Dave Carter as the Narrator, Scott Costner as Fred, Terry Marek as Bob Cratchit, Brant Burgiss as the Gentleman, Steve Baskett as Jacob Marley, Mary Ellis Rice as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Lucy Claire Foy as Fan and Young Boy, Garrett Humphrey as Young Scrooge and Peter, Steve Humphrey as Fezziwig and Businessman, Amy Reid as Mrs. Fezziwig and Mrs. Martin, Hannah Broeils as Belle, Ryan Stinson as the Ghost of Christmas Present, David Maloney as Mr. Michaels and Businessman, Martha Hawk as Mrs. Seymour and Mrs. Dilber, Hunter Wilson as Topper and Businessman, Michelle Shumate as Niece and Caroline, Laura Humphrey as Mrs. Cratchit, Bailey Lowe as Martha, Caroline Humphrey as Tiny Tim, Andrew Hunt as Captain and Old Joe, Dakota Peak as Helmsman and Edward, and Leticia Peltzer as Charwoman. Nicole Intagliata serves as the stage manager, Camille Gray serves as the audio technician, and Samantha Gray is the producer.
“A Christmas Carol” follows Theatre Bristol On Air’s Halloween success, “The War of the Worlds” directed by Dottie Havlik, and available on your favorite podcast service.

Founded in 1965, Theatre Bristol is the oldest continually running children’s theatre in northeast Tennessee. Its Main Stage season consists of up to six productions.
