One of the most popular musicals of all time, Theatre Bristol with sponsor ENT & Allergy Consultants brings “The Sound of Music,” to the Paramount Center for the Arts under the direction of Glenn Patterson. Auditions for the June production are postponed until 2021. Important audition information including times, songs, rehearsal and performance dates, and additional details will be at www.TheatreBristol.org/audition.
The Sound of Music, the final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain Von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire Von Trapp family must make a moral decision (Concord Theatricals).
Directing The Sound of Music will be highly respected and talented actor/director, Theatre Bristol veteran Glenn Patterson (Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Music Man, Les Misérables, Scrooge! The Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Miracle on 34th Street). Music director Steve Davis is a music and voice teacher, retired church music minister, and producer, and has codirected She Loves Me, music directed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, ANNIE, and directed Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day at Theatre Bristol.
Being a part of this cast and crew will be a memorable experience and we invite everyone to audition. Auditions will include provided readings, singing, and movement/dancing, and while no preparation is required, prepared music is also welcome. Anyone interested in being a part of the production crew may contact Theatre Bristol at info@theatrebristol.org, or be present at any of the audition times.
The Sound of Music opens June 2021, and runs for two weekends at the Paramount Center for the Arts, Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $16 for adults plus fees and $12 for seniors and students plus fees, and will be available at www.ParamountBristol.org.
