Calling All Young Actors! Theatre Bristol 2019 Summer Camp Registration Now Open

Theatre Bristol 2019 summer camp features The Wonderful Wizard of Oz-inspired week, July 8-12

Theatre Bristol proudly announces its 2019 children’s summer camp The StART of Adventure, running July 8-12 at 512 State Street, Bristol, Tennessee. This year’s camp features camp for rising second graders through eighth graders, and one half-day camp for rising kindergartners and first graders. Registration is now open online at www.TheatreBristol.org.

Celebrating the 80th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz movie, Theatre Bristol is not only bringing the show to the Paramount stage this summer, but giving campers a chance to try their hand at the beloved roles. Guided by the Theatre Bristol Youth Service Board (YSB), along with highly respected teachers and theatre veterans in the area, campers will spend the week with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz theme learning acting skills, creative movement, music, costuming, makeup design, set design, props, and more. At the end of the week, campers will bring L. Frank Baum’s nearly 120-year-old classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to life!

“We’re really excited to have the kids on stage again!” said Marley Hillman, camp coordinator. Co-coordinator Whitney Brooks added how very thankful the YSB is to the professionals who will be teaching the campers valuable theatrical skills and knowledge.

The StART of Adventure is organized by the Theatre Bristol YSB, with guidance and counsel from the Theatre Bristol Board of Directors. “I see camp as a great way for the YSB to learn leadership, organization, planning, and responsibility,” said Cameron Roberts, the YSB president, “We have all had wonderful opportunities on and off stage, and now we get a chance to offer our experience and knowledge to the next generation of young actors. I know our founder, Cathy DeCaterina, would be proud.”

Camp will run Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Theatre Bristol will provide a healthy snack in the afternoon, however campers will need to pack a lunch each day. Registration is available online. The cost per camper is $150, with a family discount of each additional child reduced to $75, as well as an extra charge for early drop off and late pick up options. The Thursday half-day camp is $25. Financial assistance applications are also available. Space is limited so register soon!
