Theatre Bristol Announces 2019 Season Featuring The Wizard of Oz, Into the Woods, The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf, Sherlock Holmes, River’s Way, and Miracle on 34th Street

Theatre Bristol plans to enchant audiences with traditional and American fairy tales, a mystery, and a miracle for its 54th Season! We invite you to get involved!

The season kicks off with its third River’s Way collaboration on March 9 and 10 with “Cinder Red Robin Hood and the Seven Dwarfs” a Theatre Bristol original production written and directed by Dottie Havlik. Please watch for reservation information for this collaboration that played to standing ovations and sold-out in 2018!

Then we’re off to see “The Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum, with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg, under the direction of Kenn Naegele at the Paramount Center for the Arts June 21-30. The beloved tale of a Kansas farm girl who travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home includes favorite iconic songs “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “If I Were King of the Forest,” and many more. Auditions for men, women, children and dogs too, are March 11, 12, 16, and 17. Rehearsals begin April 14. Performances are June 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30. Be sure to see the audition place, times, and details at www.TheatreBristol.org/audition.

Theatre Bristol’s annual The Start of Adventure summer camp for kindergarten through eighth grade runs July 8-12. Registration will begin in February at www.TheatreBristol.org.

It’s elementary for the Youth Service Board to follow up their hard work on camp, as well as past successful productions of “Tartuffe,” “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and “Love’s Labour’s Lost” with a production of “Sherlock Holmes,” July 26-28.

What big plans we have to present “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf” directed by Camille Gray on the ARTspace stage September 6-15. The Wolf, villain or victim? The Three Pigs, innocent or at fault? The Jurors, Miss Muffet, Bo Peep, Cinderella and Humpty-Dumpty, to name a few, solid citizens or characters with a past in this trial of the century? Auditions for men, women, and children are July 13, July 14, and July 15. Rehearsals begin on July 29. Performances are September 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15. Be sure to see the audition times and details at www.TheatreBristol.org/audition.

Then, for a perfectly charming holiday experience, Theatre Bristol presents “Into the Woods” under the direction of Glenn Patterson at the Paramount Center for the Arts, November 15-24. “James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching,” with the notable music of “Children Will Listen,” “Ever After,” “Agony,” “The Last Midnight,” and many more. Auditions for men, women, and teenagers are August 3, August 4, August 5, and August 10. Rehearsals begin September 8. Performances are November 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24. Be sure to see the audition times and details at www.TheatreBristol.org/audition.

Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for, but the magic of Christmas ends up on trial! Auditions for men, women, and children are September 28, September 29, September 30, and October 1. Rehearsals begin October 6. Performances are December 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22. Be sure to see the audition times and details at www.TheatreBristol.org/audition.
